Heart is also a number game

Aur bhi gam hain zamaane mein mohabbat ke siva...

Read an interesting article about healthy heart and jotted down few important facts. It is difficult to stick to these numbers but then health is wealth :)

Blood Pressure

  • 115/75 mm Hg is a deal
  • 120/80 mm Hg is normal

  • 140/90 mm Hg or above is high

Check at least once a year

Cholesterol

  • HDL is good cholesterol- higher the HDL lower the risk of heart disease. HDL should be 60 mg/dL and above

  • LDL is bad cholesterol- higher the LDL higher the risk of heart disease.LDL should be less than 60 mg/dL .

Blood Sugar

  • Healthy- 100 mg/dL

  • Pre diabetes- 100& 126 mg/dL

  • Diabetes- 126 mg/dL

Screen age for diabetes is 45 yrs

Body Mass Index

  • Healthy weight - 18.5 to 24.9

  • Over weight - 25 to 29.9

  • High/Obese - 30 or higher

BMI = ( Weight in Kilograms / ( Height in Meters ) x ( Height in Meters ) )

Waist Circumference

  • 35 " and below is good

  • 35" and above is risky

This risk increases with a waist measurement of over 40 inches in men and over 35 inches in women.

But more importantly how can we keep our heart happy? Well , all of us have our ways of being happy but doctors advise:

  • Eat Healthy
  • Increase in physical activities
  • Avoid stress

  • Say bye bye to alcohol and cigarettes

  • And try Meditation

Colour of the day :)

Can colours bring good luck? I don't know..may be..may be not. There are colours one can wear on specific days to bring good luck.

Monday - White

Tuesday - Orange, Red

Wednesday - Green

Thursday - Yellow

Friday - Pink

Saturday - Black, Dark Blue

Sunday - Red

WARNING: Try this pattern at your own risk :)

Pink as you can see is my favourite colour and by default I wear Pink on most days. So, according to the colour chart I generally make god happy on Friday and I expect god to understand and respect my choice of colour on other days :) Thankyou God

Chak de..ne chak diya

Chak de India= Indian Women Hockey Team= Jharkhand( Jungle), Mizoram,Manipur(Chinese,Chilly sauce)=South India(Tamil, Telugu)=Haryana(Cow,bulls)=Punjab(short tempered)= Senior players(bossy attitude)=Strong script and direction=Good camera work=Decent editing( except for once or twice)= Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah Rukh Khan( Kabir Khan-d coach)= Excellent acting= Great entertainment=Must Watch

This film does everything that Indian cricket team fails to do. Why cant the men in blue forget themselves, seniority, records, endorsements for the game and for the country. Women Hockey is a dying sport in our country and the film does good justice to the issues faced by players on and off the field.

Go to your nearby local theatre and you will get a feel of watching a live match and over excited fans. Multiplexes of course expect people to behave in a particular manner.

Do not miss clapping/whistling or both on those typical Hindi deshbhakti movie dialogues like :

-Peeche se nahi - mard ho to saamne se vaar karo, Hockey me chakke nahi hote

-pehli baar kisi gore ko India ka flag lehrate hue dekh raha hun

-ache player ki hi achi kismat hoti hai

-silver medal ko gold banane ke liye ghis raha hun

-har team mein ek gunda hota hai aur is team ka gunda mai hun

-rotiyan belne wale hathon se hockey khilwaoge

and many more :)

Daag Acche hain

This beautiful advertisement reminds me of my school days, when me and my younger sister V used to fight with the world for each other. Once, I remember in class 2nd while travelling back home we got into a physical fight with a boy in school bus for window seat. Of course I had good fun beating him up and getting hurt. But after reaching home I cried very badly in front of my mom not for getting beaten up or beating but for V not helping me out once I took over :)

Two,three or 23

Few days back a friend mentioned about the expenses involved in bringing up children these days. Pre nursery schools/ good public schools, toys, study material, clothes and a general good living are difficult to provide in a city like Delhi. She also said that the concept of family planning is not Hum do hamare do anymore but Hum do hamara ek. Her husband makes a hefty amount every month but nothing is enough and the case is the same for most couples living in cities.

But is family only about providing material needs or it is about loving, caring, togetherness...

On the other hand I saw a news story, which I will never forget. It was about Bismillah and his wife Noor, they live in a remote village of Haryana. They have 23 children; a double cricket team is what they call it. And obviously they are not even aware of the old family planning concept forget the new one. The eldest child is 24 and the youngest is only few months old. The children never have to go out to look for friends and enemies of course. This family is not blessed with the best of financial resources. Whatever little Bismillah gets home is spent on food and clothes for girls yet they are very happy in there own way. In a one minute interview that I saw of Bismillah and his wife not even once they mentioned about how difficult it is to bring up 23 children. They say they have enough love to give.
