Jaane tu...ya jaane na - II

In my previous post on Jaane tu...ya jaane na, I mentioned about good performances by side characters in the film, and specially mentioned Genelia's brother. I liked the way his character was shaped and the relation he shared with Genelia. The guy plays role of a maverick brother and his acting was superior to most other seasoned actors. This is what made me search for more about him.

His name is Prateik Babbar s/o veteran actors Smita Patil and Raj Babbar. No wonder there was some sort of familiarity about him and his acting. This was also his first film, however Imraan Khan got the biggest piece of cake, thanks to uncle Aamir. But Prateik's acting genes did not go unnoticed. The policy of ‘let the work speak’ worked well for him.

As much as I loved Prateik Babbar's character, I would like to say this in favour of Imraan Khan that he did not get as you said "the biggest piece of cake, thanks to Uncle Aamir." And I'll tell you why. Imraan Khan was invloved with the film much before Aamir came into the picture. Initially Jaane Tu was meant to be produced by someone else. But then there were some problems. The movie was about to be shelved when Imraan narrated the story to Aamir. You can catch this entire story about Imraan's dedication to the film and at what stage uncle Aamir really got involved on Aamir Khan's blog http://www.aamirkhan.com/blog.htm in a post titled It's a bird...it's a plane... Abbas Tyrewala. :)

ncl Girl* I have nothing against Imraan or AK. By 'biggest peice of cake' I meant all the attention and huge chunk of publicity that Imraan Khan got through Aamir's presence. On the other hand another new comer in the film, also the hero of my post Prateik Babbar, dint require any of that and allowed his work to do the talking.
Thanks for making me read a looooooong post ;)

Thanks vibha for this piece of information about Prateik babbar. Apart from the script, plot, presentation and packaging any film is successful only when all the characters have done justice to their role.Apart from Imraan, jenelia and prateik the friend circle of rats have done well.
